Cohort of democratic representatives and senators initiates legislation aimed at stopping President Donald Trump’s efforts to transfer federal agencies outside Washington, DC, something the president has taken steps to start doing.
The guidelines issued by Trump’s administration in February instructed federal agencies to submit to the proposed agencies and resettlement of the proposed agencies – instructions related to the broader efforts of the President to prevent waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government.
A couple of parliamentary and Senate Democrats and the Senate are trying to claim and share a comprehensive cost and benefit analysis of the Congress and the public before any relocation.

“Anyone standing here, each of my colleagues wants to get rid of fraud, waste, and abuse … But this rhetoric (from the administration) is a coverage of agenda that is controversial and, contrary to the interests of the United States,” said Rep. Steny Hojer, D-Md., Announced new legislative efforts.

Chris Van Hollen, Senior of Maryland Democrats, introduced a “law on relocation costs” in 2020 and again in 2023.
“We hoped that (the bill) would no longer be needed, but that is,” Van Hollen said at a news conference. “It is necessary to stop the Donald Trump and Elon Muscle from wasting the American taxpayers’ dollar by sabotizing services on which American society depends.”
