US and Chinese military officials have been on their first working level talks since US President Donald Trump took office for the second time, sharing both sides concerned about the military security of the sea.
The US Indo-Class Ocean Command said in a statement that talks on Wednesday and Thursday in the eastern China city of Shanghai are aimed at reducing the Undofessional and unprofessional actions of the Chinese Navy and Air Force.
The Chinese Ministry of Defense announced that it indicates that US military ships and aircraft had “intelligence, polls and high -intensity training at sea and air spaces around China, which are subject to misunderstandings and miscalculations and endanger China’s sovereignty and military security.”
China told the United States that it would continue to “respond to all dangerous provocative activities” and “resolve national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests,” the ministry said in a statement.
The talks took place in the same week, and Beijing conducted large -scale training in waters and airspace around Taiwan Island. The meeting also took place shortly after US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegsets told his Japanese colleague that Japan was “our indispensable partner in deterring communist Chinese military aggression.”
The link between Beijing and Washington in recent years has been tense on issues such as trade, cyber security, Taiwan and South China. Under the leadership of Trumpa, the trade war has worsened when his administration imposed tariffs and China announced its countermeasures.

In order to return to Chinese aggression in the Indo Clus Ocean, the United States has stepped up its presence in the region by navigating the Strait of Taiwan and doing training in the Contested South China Sea. The US is opposed to any forced takeover of Taiwan, which Beijing claims to be part of China’s territory and undertakes to take power if necessary.
But both governments are also trying to maintain communication lines open, including half a year talks.
The Chinese Ministry of Defense said both sides this time in Shanghai made a open and constructive exchange on the security situation in the area of the sea and the air and that they discussed measures to improve the military security of the sea between the two countries.
