Veteran Derek Chisora says he does not believe former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury can win a rematch against unified champion Oleksandr Usyk on December 21.
Chisora believes that with the way the 36-year-old Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) is training for the Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) fight, he will “NOT” win. He says sparring partners are “in awe” of Fury ‘Gypsy King’ and don’t push him. In contrast, Usyk works hard, starts fast and finishes fast.
Chisora points out that Usyk knows he can hurt Fury in their last fight on May 18 when he had him on roller skates in the ninth round, and he will go after him with his power play. Usik’s ‘Hitman’ theme for the rematch suggests he’s coming to wipe Fury out and kill him on December 21st when they fight at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.
What Chisora fails to point out is obvious. Furi is one of the the ultra-rich now, soft, and he doesn’t have the serious hunger he once had in his career before he got rich. Fury is one of the richest boxers on the planet, with an estimated net worth of $140 million, which will jump to $200 million+ with a rematch against Usik.
He can’t be motivated like he used to be; so he’s still fat and still has a month to fight, wearing his trunks high to try and cover his middle-aged bump. Fury is old and fat and no longer willing to suffer and deny himself the comfort of being one of them nouveau riche. Fury is like one of those who hit oil on their own land. Money forever changes that person for the worse.
“Do I believe Tyson can beat Alexander? I’m watching how he’s doing in sparring camp. I personally don’t believe that with the sparring partners he has now when they are forcing him to be a threat. They admire Tyson,” Derek Chisora said Secondsout about his doubts about Tyson Fury’s ability to win his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21.
“They’re going to get their kicks out during sparring, that’s the stuff I see. What I see is that Alexander does it completely differently. I think Alexander is more like start fast and finish fast. He knows he can hurt him now, so he will come and try to hurt him. He keeps saying that he won’t leave him alone.
“I would like Tyson to win, but right now those chances don’t look great,” Chisora said.
