Gaza protests block Metro Vancouver container port


Police in British Columbia say demonstrators have blocked access to Metro Vancouver’s major container port terminal as protesters demand an end to what they call “Canada’s arms trade with Israel.”

Delta Police on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, say Deltaport officers are “working to resolve” protest influence.

They say the demonstration also targeted the head of Global Container Terminals, who is a UBC board member, and shared photos showing a long line of trucks blocked by flag-waving protesters.

A similar protest in April disrupted Deltaport for several hours.

The International Criminal Court issues arrest warrants for Israeli and Hamas leaders


The Port of Vancouver is the largest port in Canada, and GCT Deltaport is the country’s largest container terminal with the capacity to handle 2.4 million standard 20-foot containers annually.

Israel and Hamas have been at war since October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led militants invaded southern Israel and killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapped another 250.
